A true community hero Denise is just amazing! She has been through so much tragedy in her life and yet she carries on strong. She has taken her horror of living through extreme poverty and used it to better her life by becoming more financially independant. She knows first hand what hunger once felt like. She has kids that were born with physical limitations and she herself was raised by a father who was blind. Her love for people is enormously admirable, even at the roughest of times.

She also created a website that is devoted to helping others save in ALL aspects of life (www.StretchThatDollar.com), which also includes individual state recycle, freebies, yard sales & grocery deal alerts.

Because of her help in the community, she was chosen to be a special non-profit member of the Tribune newspapers 'money matters' panel.
While she does not get paid for any of this, she is thrilled to help others as much as she can, she really wants to see others become more self-sufficient, and in a fun way at that.

For these reasons, Denise is a true community hero who deserves first-hand recognition.
